Let’s be real, stepping out as your true self is an absolute rush! Whether you’re a crossdresser finding your stride or a trans woman living your truth every day, that "girl glow" is real. But along with the lashes and heels comes a side of life we don’t always talk about: privacy and safety.
I’ve learned a few things (sometimes the hard way) about keeping my private life, well, private. Here are 7 common mistakes we make and how to fix them so you can stay bold and safe!
1. The "Open Book" Trap
We get excited and want to share our journey with everyone! But giving your full life story to a curious stranger can be risky. The Fix: Use the "Slow Reveal." Decide who needs to know versus who is just being nosy. "That’s personal" is a complete sentence, babe!
2. Digital Breadcrumbs
Posting that gorgeous selfie is a must, but did you check your geotags? The Fix: Turn off location services for your photos and check your social media privacy settings. Keep those "en femme" folders locked or on a separate cloud account if you aren't fully out.
3. The "Solo Flight" Fail
I love a solo shopping trip, but going to unfamiliar or isolated spots alone at night isn't the best move. The Fix: Use the buddy system! Join a group or grab a trusted friend. There is serious safety: and style: in numbers.

4. Ignoring Your "Girl-tuition"
If a vibe feels off, it usually is. The Fix: Trust your gut. If a person or a place makes you feel uneasy, leave. You don't owe anyone an explanation for prioritizing your safety.
5. Wardrobe "Risks"
We’ve all been there: wearing 6-inch heels to a place where you might need to walk a mile. The Fix: Dress for the environment. Carry a pair of "emergency flats" and make sure your outfit doesn't require constant adjusting, which can draw unwanted attention.
6. The "Discreet" Stranger Promise
Relying on a "discreet" promise from someone you just met online is a gamble. The Fix: Meet in public first. Always tell a friend where you’re going and who you’re meeting.
7. Tucking Through the Pain
Privacy also means physical safety! The Fix: Tucking should never be agonizing. Use skin-safe tape and take breaks. Your health is part of your power!
